Nigeria?s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has said it will soon start making records of all companies, business names and incorporated trustees available electronically for customers to have access to online. The agency?s Registrar-General, Alhaji Bello Mahmud said that ?in order to ease post incorporation activities, safeguard the records and ensure the integrity of all information in the commission, rapid document imaging has been embarked upon through the conversion of our manual records to suitable electronic formats.?
According to him, customers will be able to access these records from the comfort of their offices and homes and pay the search fees, using electronic payment system, although he did not say when this would take effect. Mahmud also added that manual searches will be abolished.
This new development was announced as part of the Commission?s Investment Climate Reforms Programme to commence a 24-hour business incorporation service at its offices in Lagos and Abuja.

They should privatize CAC. They're not competent enough to handle it.

Even when Jimoh Ibrahim took over some years back he said the same thing.

this old naija agency is such a dullar.
so much delays in their so called network.
I just hope this can be a reality.
Their failure in any capacity shows we are naija. Abi no b so?
Payment before one access company database?? So if i am dealing with fake company in naija and i needed to verify if the company exist or not online, i will have to make payment first?
acidtalk: They said same thing about 7years ago.i am yet to track the organisation that Jimoh Ibrahim was placed in charge that has not registered imrovement on the downward trend. Each one has packed up soon after he took over, Virgin Nigeria is the most recent, CAC on the other hand, has refused to die or go comatose yet and has also defied every move to improve. no thanks to the 'man' ...

Who are in this government ministries do they do their due diligence before engaging on an assignment. So a potential investor would pay money first to confirm whether his potential business partners in Nigeria exist or not.

The place is always good wen he's there but falls apart as soon as he leaves.

If they were open to ideas, would they have made that kind of arrangement? What's wrong wit us and being open minded? Must we always be vertical?
Too little, too late. When companies like Mocality Nigeria and Vconnect have already dominated their niche. Well, maybe they can just brag about being an official list of registered companies. I hope they do a good job with their web design.

Another way to collect money from the FG for a project that will not last for a year before they will forget to renew the domain name of the website.

They do not have the power to register, though I respect their kind of services. We need more of that.

Most registered businesses in CAC carry village addresses or addresses where the principal has relocated. It isnt a 100% cure against fraud but it's in the right direction.
Before you procure a new drivers licence now, all your finger prints are captured. They should also implement this in their new methods of registering businesses.
